Tap into Asia’s underground post-hyperpop scene with three fast-rising artists - Chinese rappers SEBii and Billionhappy, and Korean-American artist and producer kimj.
Drawing from cloud rap, 2010s EDM and East Asian pop, the trio represent a new wave of genre-blurring artists reshaping the region’s underground sound. Shanghai rapper Billionhappy is a leading voice in the city’s Shabby Club collective, known for blending maximalist electronica, Chinese melodies and blown-out 808s into huge, irreverent tracks, and recently collaborating with Australia’s own Ninajirachi.
Fellow Shabby Club member SEBii has built a cult following online with his high-energy rap style, fusing cloud rap, hyperpop and club production into chaotic, internet-native tracks that move between underground rap and electronic music.
Korean-American artist and producer kimj is a forward-thinking figure in global electronic music. Working across the electronic and alternative space, he has collaborated with artists including 2hollis, nate sib and Effie, playing a key role in a new wave of genre-blurring production emerging across international scenes.
The three artists recently collaborated on the EP 潮 (Chao) - a fast and furious eight-track project riffing on the sounds of 2010s EDM.
Supporting the night, Melbourne Chinese-Mongolian artist CLAIR opens with a live set of ethereal trance-pop, weaving obscure samples with her own glitched-out vocals.
Free for all to enjoy, Tumbalong Nights ignites Darling Quarter's Tumbalong Park with 23 nights of music during Vivid Sydney, with a cross-cultural lineup of live music from international legends, Australian icons, emerging stars, plus DJs.
