Event Details

A message in a bottle rides the waves of Campbells Cove, waiting for you. Its neon scrawl on an ancient piece of parchment can be read from the shore: “Welcome to Sydney, where your story begins”.

We may never know who sent it, how far it travelled, or why it glows as if written in stardust. But what better home than Sydney Harbour, a place of millions of beginnings which started long before the First Fleet arrived in 1788, as an integral space for Eora fishing, culture and storytelling.

Beyond colonialists, convicts and migrants arriving in Australia via boat, it remains a first port of call for millions of visitors, drawn to its world-famous sites. Whether you’re visiting from afar or a local seeing your city anew, Dear You invites us all to try something new in the city and ourselves.

Vivid Sydney acknowledges and respects the Traditional Owners of the Land on which this installation sits. In consultation with our First Nations Consultants, proudly welcome you in the local language of Dharawal: "Dadyibalang. Mangamai Gili Ngyiningyi Gumada Mudong’ba Ngabai"
