Event Details

Spin out day or night with Optik, an interactive series of ten gyroscopic sculptures generating cascades of colour and music with each rotation - and it’s all guided by you!

Each of these sculptures has its own distinct, dichroic panel at its centre, reflecting Sydney’s bustling Loftus Street in a flurry of shades and colours with each whirl. Don’t be shy, give it a go! During the day, it’s a looking glass into a world of purple skies and orange streets. And at night, each ring becomes one instrument in an orchestra, making sounds with each shift. Will you make a beautiful song with a stranger, or enjoy the chaos of a hearty spin?

This artwork was created by New York–based studio The Urban Conga in collaboration with Quebec artist and designer Serge Maheu and studio Init. The work is toured by Quebec-based Creos
