You can’t miss this celestial laser installation. No, you really can’t! Standing 23 metres tall on three metal legs, this 6.5-tonne meteorite sits above Barangaroo Reserve for Vivid Sydney, visible from Balmain and Chatswood.
Created by revered British artist Chris Levine, Molecule of Light vibrates with energy during the day, as its nice layers of UV-reactive paint swirl and shift as they catch the sun’s rays. Come night, it lets loose with a stunning laser production that brings the cosmos to Barangaroo Reserve and skies above, moving-in sync with the Earth’s rotation.
While Molecule of Light’s sheer scale is impressive, its biggest impact isn’t in the skies but within each person nearby. Day or night, Molecule’s meteorite emits a tone set at 528hz. Often called the “frequency of love”, it’s one of the strongest on the Solfeggio scale – an ancient set of frequencies believed to have healing properties. By combining an awe-inspiring spectacle with serene sounds, Molecule of Light induces a meditative state unlike any else.
