Get funky with Nigeria's monumental Afrobeat act Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 and Indigenous-led high-energy trio Tjaka.
The youngest son of Afrobeat founder Fela Kuti, Seun Kuti joined his father's band Egypt 80 as saxophonist and percussionist as a young child before becoming its leader at 14 years old after Fela's death in 1997, as per his wishes.
Carrying Afrobeat into a new era, Seun Kuti has continued expanding Afrobeat's sonic identity and purpose to include more African cultures and struggles.
He has released five acclaimed albums with Egypt 80, most recently the Grammy-nominated Black Times (2018) and Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head) (2025), featuring collaborations with De La Soul, Sampa the Great and Kamasi Washington. Additionally, he's released songs with Janelle Monáe, Common, Vic Mensa, Sinead O'Connor and more.
Known as a fiery, passionate performer, Seun Kuti will lead Egypt 80 in a huge, joyous and powerful live show.
Joining Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 is Tjaka, a Brisbane-based trio known for huge live shows and mixing reggae, funk, hip-hop and Indigenous sounds together with electric results.
Consisting of brothers Geoff and Jake Fabila, descendants of the Jabirr Jabirr tribe in the WA Kimberley, and best mate Felix Fogarty, the band utilise two innovative instruments inspired by the Didgeridoo - the Didjeribone, a slide instrument similar to a trombone, and the FaceBass, a seismic microphone inside the mouth.
Free for all to enjoy, Tumbalong Nights ignites Darling Quarter's Tumbalong Park with 23 nights of music during Vivid Sydney, with a cross-cultural lineup of live music from international legends, Australian icons, emerging stars, plus DJs.
