Real name Hinenuiterangi Tairua, A.GIRL is a proud Maori woman raised in Western Sydney. Beyond her own music, she’s also the host of triple j’s Hip Hop Show.

The DeeBeeTees

The DeeBeeTees (Doers of Brave Things) is the collaborative soundworld of two flutey friends, Chloe Chung and Liz Cheung, co-creating on Gadigal land. Chloe Chung is a multi-style flautist (Western flutes/dizi), while HK-born Liz Yung Cheung specialises in low flutes and huqin (Chinese bowed strings).

Jerome Blazé

Jerome Blazé is a Sydney-based artist and producer known for his distinctive sonic world. His own project refracts elements of electronic, trip-hop, soul and neoclassical music through field recordings and analogue imperfection. His 2024 sophomore record Living Room drew comparisons to Moby, Groove Armada, and Air, with an expansive cross-genre sound palette.

Kyla Belle is a 17 year-old proud Gomeroi girl from Moree. Known for her huge vocals and thoughtful songwriting, Belle was the 2025 triple j Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative Winner, as well as a Featured Artist in last year's School Spectacular. Her debut EP will be released in 2026.

Brazil-born, Australia-based, and a world traveller, Lu Faria is passionate about digging and uncovering sounds from across the globe. Her vinyl sets flow through reggae, dub, hip hop, funk, disco, house, Afro, Brazilian, and Latin grooves.

Moses Macrae aka Scruffs is a Sydney-based DJ, producer, drummer and the founder of Close Friends Records. He has recorded and performed with various local artists such as Rainbow Chan, Ngaiire, Jonti, Glo, Agung Mango, Setwun and many more.

Warren Fahey Trio

Warren Fahey Trio

Warren Fahey is a cultural historian and musician recognised as one of Australia’s foremost custodians of the bush traditions – songs, recitations and bush dance music telling of an earlier Australia. He sings and plays concertina and jaw harp alongside Garry Steel on accordion and Marcus Holden on mandolin and fiddle.

Celebrating libraries as a hub of discovery, creativity and community, this free Friday night arrives for a special Vivid Sydney edition, following a popular debut last year.

Head to the historic Mitchell Library Reading Room for reading, writing, origami and games, soundtracked by an original, meditative commission by Sydney artist Jerome Blazé.

In the Friends Room, catch short talks and ideas, or relax with puzzles and art-making materials in the heritage galleries, featuring a diverse range of Sydney's acoustic sounds.

Throughout the night, hear from underground hip hop and r’n’b star A.GIRL; flautist duo The DeeBeeTees; Hamed Sadeghi, a composer trained in Persian classical music and Iranian lute the tar; 17-year-old Gomeroi singer-songwriter Kyla Belle; vinyl DJ Lu Faria; Sydney producer Scruffs, and bush song custodians Warren Fahey Trio.

With plenty of places to create, read, write, engage, think, play and relax in gorgeous surrounds, State Library Unplugged is a night unlike any other.
