According to the Minister for Trade and Industry Niall Blair, the creative industries are significant drivers of innovation, jobs and economic growth and deserve strong recognition. In NSW, the creative industries employ around 212,600 people, which is approximately 42 percent of Australia’s creative workforce.
The 2018 NSW Creative Achievement Awards recognise outstanding achievements that help raise the global profile of NSW Creative Industries.
There are three award categories:
· The prestigious NSW Creative Laureate that celebrates the very best of the state's creative talent with an award for an individual, team or organisation that demonstrates significant leadership.
· The second category, the NSW Emerging Creative Talent, awards an individual, team or organisation making waves in their sector that demonstrates leadership in originality and innovation. This Award offers support for future development with a cash prize of $15,000.
· Finally, the new category NSW Young Creative celebrates outstanding achievers aged 25 years and under and offers a structured mentoring program with a creative industry specialist from Creative Plus Business to the value of $3,000.
In 2017, animation and visual effects production house Plastic Wax was honoured with the NSW Creative Laureate Award and leading fashion label Romance Was Born received the award for NSW Emerging Creative Talent.
