Freda's

Freda's is a bar and creative space in Chippendale that showcases artists, musicians & DJs on both a local and international level.

While Freda’s is one of the smallest venues on the Vivid Sydney calendar, it punches well above its weight with an unyielding commitment to Sydney nightlife. In 2015, it featured nights from the likes of socially conscious label Yevu alongside live West African music, Plastic World Showcase featuring some of the country’s best new electronic producers, and a succession of parties by rising promoters including Vibe Positive.

This year the programming will be taken to new heights with a 3-day series of Tribute nights headlined by local musicians and vocalists, for which Freda’s is now rather renowned. Previous editions have included tributes to Sade, Prince, David Bowie, Disco & the New York Club sound of the late 80’s and featured the likes of Tom Tilley (Triple J, Client Liaison), Holiday Sidewinder (Bridezilla), Kirin J Callinan, Michael Di Francesco (Touch Sensitive), Tyson Koh (FBi Radio, Rage), Rainbow Chan, Alex Ward (Moon Holiday) & Marcus Whale (Black Vanilla).

With a new monthly night on the schedule, Thru The Rhythm, punters now get their hit of local Garage, Psych, Punk and Lo Fi. In addition to a few sweet surprises, we are proud to present the first edition of Freda’s Rock Esteiddfod with entry open to the public: an event that has spent years in the woodworks that is set to finally debut at this year's Vivid Sydney.
