MCA Light Nights is an epic, after-dark experience that transforms the building into an immersive destination for sound, light and moving image.
Extending the impact of Angela Tiatia’s work illuminating the exterior of the MCA as part of the Vivid Light Walk, the event brings her practice inside the museum’s Foundation Hall through large-scale projections and curated soundscapes.
Experience a dynamic, multi-channel audio-visual environment mixed by live DJs, creating a participatory atmosphere that blends contemporary art, music and projection.
More than a silent disco, this is a choose-your-own audio adventure, where multiple DJ’s will create a sonic soundtrack to compliment the incredible artwork on display. Dance together or to the beat of your own drum, in this multi-track, multi-media party extravaganza.
Key features include:
- A vibrant hospitality offering through the MCA Café and the Bar in the Foundation Hall with family friendly menu on offer during the 5-7pm session.
- Three internal projection screens within Foundation Hall showcasing separate moving-image works from leading contemporary Samoan/Australian artist Angela Tiatia.
-
A curated audio experience allowing audiences to select original soundtracks alongside three live DJ music channels.
