Event Details

The climate is changing, why aren't we? Ask this question and more at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) from Saturday 1 June – Sunday 2 June. Taking inspiration from the work of artist Janet Laurence, join us for a weekend of art, discussion and action as temperatures head towards boiling point.

As weather patterns shift, people of all ages are rising up in defence of our planet and environment. Our way of life and the future for our children is under threat. Conversation Starters: Temperature Rising calls for us to stand together and understand how we are entangled in climate change and how we can be part of a positive shift, individually and collectively.

Take part in an array of talks, performances, workshops, film screenings and special events over two days as contemporary art becomes a catalyst for new ideas.

Head into the kitchen with the team from Cornersmith to learn how to make your kitchen low-waste, prepare your case in a ‘How to talk to climate change denier’ workshop and save a t-shirt from the pits of fast fashion hell. Take part in playful activities with the entire family or sit back and hear from a line-up of inspiring speakers.

Now in its third year, Conversation Starters is the MCA’s annual program of event which makes space for urgent issues to be explored creatively and accessibly with people of all ages and walks of life.
