Help bring one of the world’s largest festivals to life
Vivid Sydney returns from 22 May – 13 June 2026, transforming the city with large-scale light installations, live music and performances, creative conversations, interactive experiences and innovative culinary events. As the worlds most attended multi artform festival of Light, Music, Minds and Food, Vivid Sydney is owned, managed and produced by Destination NSW.
For 2026, the festival expands across light, daytime public art, interactive installations, theatrical performance, music, minds and a dedicated food program, it's most comprehensive offering to date. This broader program introduces a 24/7 presence in the Sydney CBD, welcoming daytime audiences to complement the evening experience.
City wide Volunteers
Volunteers play an essential role in ensuring the smooth operation of Vivid Sydney. As a volunteer, you won’t just represent the festival, you’ll become part of the vibrant community that unites each year to illuminate our Harbour city.
In this role, you'll provide valuable information to audiences at city-wide information booths, as part of roaming teams in key locations, and at some of our stunning Vivid Light installations. You’ll be at the centre of the action, gaining exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into how an iconic festival comes to life while connecting with the local community.
Your responsibilities will include sharing details about the event, accessible viewing areas, public facilities, transport options, amenities, and general directions.
Volunteer dates and times
Vivid Sydney 22 May – 13 June 2026
Various shifts between 5pm-11pm are available each evening at the information booths, as part of a roving team or as an installation assistant.
Want to be a team leader?
If you want to step up to the role of team leader, please nominate this in your application. Team leaders are responsible for managing up to 10 volunteers during their shifts. Previous experience as a volunteer leader is desirable.
