Event Details

Indisputably one of the key figures techno figures of the 1990s and beyond, Berlin-based electronic innovator Moritz von Oswald hits the Sydney Opera House with a dose of his signature sound, performing at the Studio for one night only.

A post-punk percussionist who turned his talents to techno in the late 1980s, von Oswald worked as a producer with Berlin’s famous Tresor label, establishing the legendary Berlin-Detroit connection when he collaborated with Juan Atkins on the 1994’s seminal “Think Quick”. von Oswald and partner Mark Ernestus created the influential German electronic label Basic Channel, which played an instrumental role in the birth of minimal and dub techno while subtly transforming the four-on-the-floor beat that remains at the genre’s essence. He has collaborated with Carl Craig, founded the Rhythm & Sound label, and played with German symphonic orchestras, and in recent years explored electronica, jazz and Afrobeat with his experimental combo, the Moritz von Oswald Trio. von Oswald continues to collaborate with Atkins as Borderland.
