Monsieur Camembert @ Camelot Lounge

Be quick because Camembert at Camelot always sells out!! With sensitivity, virtuosity, and extraordinary energy, Triple ARIA Award-winning band Monsieur Camembert brilliantly weaves gypsy music with other world music styles, to create a truly original and intoxicating blend…from Russian gypsy songs, to tango and klezmer, from gypsy swing to Latin grooves, “…they pick you up and carry you on a wave of energy, excitement and poignancy that never relents…the band play with such cohesion, energy & abandon that I experienced an emotion so foreign I barely recognised it: elation.” (John Shand, SMH)

Miriam Lieberman @ Django Bar

Miriam Lieberman returns to The Django for Vivid Sydney alongside Violinist Susie Bishop (Chaika/Hinterland) and Viola player Carl St. Jacques (Miami Symphony) fresh from their WA tour. This singer-songwriter has an unmistakable voice and is known for her own unique style on the kora — West African harp/guitar as well as her songwriting, Miriam draws her influences from far and wide — having most notably spent long periods of time studying traditional music in West Africa with local musicians including celebrated kora player Toumani Diabate.

Her songs seamlessly blend African influences with folk infused melodies. In essence, they are a collection of stories, beautifully told through strings, powerful lyrics and her emotive voice. Miriam is joined by exceptional string players — Violinist Susie Bishop (Chaika/Hinterland) and Viola player Carl St. Jacques ( Miami Symphony). Miriam and her trio have been busy touring the latest album Full Circle around the country — a work that Rhythms magazine described as “A thing of intoxicating beauty”(Nov 2016). Miriam’s previous album Birds Of The Moon (Nov 2014) made Album Of The Week on Radio National. Miriam has toured extensively with her trio as well as solo around the country, and performed at festivals internationally including Indonesia, Turkey, Mexico, Japan, Mali and Guinea.
