Event Details

Inspired by the suave, urban Nuyorican and Cuban dance bands of the 70’s, Malo Malo is one of the leading original up and coming salsa bands around the globe. They’ve headlined at the Sydney Salsa Palladium for the past four years, were featured at Melbourne’s Johnson Street Festival last year and have toured multiple times to Colombia with special guests from Grupo Niche and Hermanos Lebron.

The eight-piece Malo Malo Orquesta is gaining notice around the world with their popular original recordings, “El Robo”, “Tombola” “Derecho,” “Ritmo Caliente,” “Acuarela,” and “Charanguita” Their repertoire also includes classics by Eddie Palmieri, Hector Lavoe, Celia Cruz and Ray Baretto. A strong jazz influence enriches the various latin rhythms including son, cha cha cha, rumba guaguanco and the occasional bolero.

Malo Malo bandleader and pianist Danny G Felix is also a member of the famous Orquesta Calibre based in Cali, Colombia, “the world capital of Salsa” with which he has recorded and co-written some of the biggest current international salsa hits.

The Malo Malo sound is equally enjoyable as a listening experience and as dance music. Don’t miss the chance to hear them while Danny G is in Australia.
