Event Details

More than a decade since her appearance performing Walking On Air with Aerialise troupe, multi-talented singer, songwriter and musician Liz Martin is making her exclusive return to the Sydney Opera House, supported by Eliza Hull and her full band, for one magical night of Into the Space Between the Notes, in the intimate surrounds of the Utzon Room.

A captivating musical talent, Liz Martin began playing gorgeous acoustic folk in the ’90s, before an encounter with club culture brought her together with Paul Mac, with whom she collaborated on the gold-selling 3000 Feet High (2001). Martin’s first solo record, Beneath the Stars (2006), leaned into the electro pop with her distinctive voice; the haunting, spacious Night Music (2007) and the wildly eclectic Dance A Little (2011) followed; and in 2019 she released the swaggering, atmospheric rock album Led Me Down, with the newly formed Liz Martin Band. In 2021, Liz Martin Band performed on the Joan Sutherland Theatre stage as part of Liminal: A Music Film Series.

In Victorian composer, musician and disability advocate Eliza Hull, Martin has found a kindred spirit for this unique Opera House show. Based in regional Victoria, Hull is a proud disabled woman and a disability advocate within the music space, having performed at Ability Fest and curating the recent ‘Accessible All Areas’ at Isolaid. Her stirring, heartfelt songs have been featured on ABC KIDS TV, The Heights and in US shows Awkward, Teen Wolf and Saving Hope, while her acclaimed EPs and an album have seen her touring the world and sharing the stage with artists such as Mia Dyson, Katie Noonan and the Cat Empire. Fresh off performing on ABC Q+A and in America at SXSW, Hull returns to the Sydney Opera House. Hull’s latest EP is due for release in late 2022.
