Event Details

One of the world’s most forward-thinking electronic musicians, glitch-pop experimentalist KUČKA – aka UK-born, Australian-raised Laura Jane Lowther – has come a long way since self-producing her debut EP in her Perth bedroom nearly a decade ago. Now, riding high on the acclaim for her second studio album Wrestling, she’s stepping into the spotlight with her first ever headlining Sydney show at the Drama Theatre for Vivid LIVE – a radical visual collaboration with Naarm-based artist Bootleg Comics, with a performance directed by KUČKA’s go-to music video guru Dillon Howl.

With her ethereal vocals, intricately layered beats and hypnotically ambient textures, KUČKA’s 2015 album Unconditional was met with critical acclaim, and she rapidly attracted superstar collaborators. She featured heavily on A$AP Rocky’s smash LONG.LIVE.A$AP., collaborated with Kendrick Lamar and Vince Staples on the latter’s blockbuster Big Fish Theory, and worked alongside Australian electro-pop star Flume on Skin and Hi This Is Flume, which included a collaboration with the late hyperpop genius SOPHIE.

KUČKA dropped her highly-anticipated, deeply personal second album, Wrestling in 2021. The hyperpop-flavoured album, which features collaborations with Flume, Nosaj Thing, and British producer Vegyn, was described by The Guardian as sounding “like nothing else out of Australia”. To top things off, she recently dropped indelible, future-pop covers of two classics: Christina Aguilera’s 'Beautiful' and PJ Harvey’s 'Down by the Water'.

This is KUČKA’s moment.
