Light Qualities is an exciting series of four concerts presented by emerging Sydney-based composer-performer collective Konzertprojekt in collaboration with St Stephen’s Uniting Church. The mini-festival showcases a diverse range of Australian music focusing on new music and emerging musicians, and presents up-and-coming musical voices of Sydney.
Each of the Light Qualities concerts takes its title from a different method of photo manipulation. The third concert, Contrast (the difference between the lightest and darkest tones) takes listeners into the realm of solo, electro-acoustic and improvised music. This concert presents works written and performed by members of the Konzertprojekt collective, as well as guest composers Ben Robinson and Maddy Briggs. Together saxophones, euphoniums, poetry, live electroacoustic sounds and audiovisual works provide an exciting and varied program for audiences to enjoy.
Rhys Little and Shaun Premnath from Konzertprojekt each contribute new works in response to the idea of Contrast, which will be premiered on the night.
Discover new music from emerging Australian composers that pushes the boundaries of what we perceive music to be.
