Harpoon Harry's Late Night Express ft Simon Caldwell B2B Myles Mac (Melb)
40/44 Wentworth Ave
As part of their Vivid Sydney curation Harpoon Harry will be importing epic Melbourne talent, as a not-entirely-tongue-in-cheek attempt to invigorate our beautiful harbour city with some thriving southern late night culture.
The Saturday Night Late Night Express; All roads leading from Melbourne - the clubbing capital of Australia.
For this edition they've made it even more fun and invited Myles Mac, one of Melbourne's finest, to go track for track with the undisputed king of Sydney - Simon Caldwell - all night long!
You're most likely familiar with Simon Caldwell as he's been playing around the traps for over 20 years now! His success comes from his ability to avoid the stifling 'style' classification so many other DJs trap themselves into, keeping himself free to draw on his varied love of deep, soulful house, techno, funk, jazz, electro, booty, hip hop and anything else which catches his ear. Simon has injected energy into the dancefloor of practically every venue and clubnight in Sydney, with notable residencies at Home on Saturday nights and The Chinese Laundry. He is regularly booked to play peak sets at some of Sydney's biggest house events and has pitched his skills alongside dozens of internationals including Derrick Carter, Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Richie Hawtin and Frankie Knuckles to name a few. Although Simon can hold his own in the big arena, his heart remains true to the intimate vibe of the underground house scene. He co-promotes Mad Racket, one of the freshest and friendliest underground parties in Sydney, held at a lawn bowls club, which has toured the likes of Herbert, Metro Area, Steve Bug, Swag, The Black Madonna and Small People. Believe it or not there's so much more to say about Simon but he's the type of guy who impresses with just half his bio!
You may also be familiar with Myles Mac who founded internationally renowned Melbourne Deepcast in 2009 and has since delivered over 150 episodes with artists like HUNEE, Tama Sumo, STL, Antal and Jamie Tiller regularly featuring alongside Australia's finest. A few years later - along with Melbourne's Sleep D duo - Mac hosted the likes of Legowelt, San Soda, Mister Saturday Night and Huerco S. under the Body Contact name, before launching his weekly Lost Weekend club night in 2015 alongside Crown Ruler's Jamie Bennett. Quickly becoming one of the country's most respected parties, Lost Weekend has already played host to countless local, international and interstate DJs and live acts, with Antal, Tornado Wallace, Kai Alce, Tama Sumo and Jamie 3:26 just a handful of the talent on weekly display. On top of all of this he has also DJ'd all over the world and built a reputation as a trusted selector and curator.
This will be a dance for the ages and a night to keep you dancing long past our supposed NSW bedtime.
