Going Under: Planet Abundance

Known for her incredible taste setting selections, DJ Ayebatonye invites artists of the Black/Afro diaspora to blend global electronic sounds into entrancing sets in this immersive, other worldly celebration of afrofuturism, Black joy, and community.

Join her and friends on the dancefloor as they lay down afro rhythms, deep percussive beats, classic house, techno and jersey club paying homage to the Bla(c)k roots of dance music while bringing the creativity of Bla(c)k art to the forefront. Feast on sound, movement and performance from this founder and creative director of collaborative DIY arts platform Irregular Fit and creator, producer and host of Club Abundance on Skylab Radio.

Planet Abundance is coordinated and takes place on stolen land. Planet Abundance acknowledges the original custodians of this land, the Gadigal people. We pay our respect to Elders past and present, and honour the world's oldest continuing culture. Sovereignty was and still has never been ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.

Going Under: Planet Abundance is the first in a series of three artist-led shows at Mary's Underground that invites artists to dive deep into their Sydney/Eora and brings us together through their soundtrack. It is an opportunity for artists to explore their relationships to each other and the city, to celebrate long time collaborations, to open up new ones. Each night, artists share ‘what beats at the heart of Sydney/Eora's soul’.

Mary's Underground opens up to the immersive and cross-disciplinary, creating a space for artists to craft experiences that are bold, evocative and unforgettable, a place to bare the stories of their community, their soul, the sound of their city.
