Celebrating five years this year, Funk Engine plans to take on the music of one of the world’s top modern funk bands, ‘Lettuce’. A band that have gone from playing in local clubs to selling out stadiums across the USA with the release of five studio albums and two live albums. Their latest studio album Crush (2015) peaked at No.1 on the U.S jazz charts! With a tour to Australia looking unlikely to happen anytime soon, Funk Engine (the Sydney funk aficionados) hope to give audiences an introduction to the music of funk masters who have brought new vitality to the genre. Alongside modern jazz quartet Arcing Wires, expect to hear some of the grooviest tunes on the planet played by one of our towns best live acts.

Funk Engine
For some musicians, funk is where it’s at. It starts and ends with groove. Funk Engine is one such band. Formed in early 2013, the four-piece jazz-funk band has been exciting audiences around Sydney combining funk grooves with jazz harmony and improvisation. Their influences include
Funk Engine recorded their debut album under Aria award winner Llew Kiek which was released in November last year.This year they have released their second album ‘Taking a Ride’ collaborating with Sydney rapper DOBBY, singer Deiniol Chynoweth, horn players Nick Polovineo (trombone) and Nick Calligeros (trumpet) and Novak Manojlovic.

Arcing Wires
Arcing Wires is a new modern jazz outfit their style being the love child of the Donny McCaslin Group and The Helix Nebula. Consisting of some of Sydney’s best young jazz musicians, they create nothing less than a complete party for your ears and mind. It's music you can head band and groove too.
