Where does the nightclub end and contemporary art begin? There are more similarities between galleries, museums and clubs than we see on the surface – they are all spaces where people meet for transformative experiences.
Forget winter as underground Eora/Sydney party staple Heavenly delivers an immersive dive to the depths of domestic dance music, fusing sight and sound ‘till the early morning hours – the way it was intended.
Currently in its tenth year, Heavenly has become a trusted name in the Australian dance music community. Showcasing a mix of upcoming and established artists from both home and abroad, their emphasis has always been on quality and providing a perfect environment for artists to ride the energy as they see fit.
This event is no different, especially when past Heavenly homie Cousin takes control of the dance floor. As a DIY label operator, producer, radio host, and all-round nice guy, Cousin stretches the boundaries of house/bass/tek/ambient to create an undeniable experience. Expect driving rhythms, hypnotic bass, worlds of echo and hazy bliss layered on top of intricate swells of percussion.
Layer it with mesmerising art. VJ and visual artist Passive Kneeling (aka Tom Vanderzeil) brings Cousin’s diverse soundscape to life with a futuristic visual feast, turning Club 77 upside down and inside out with a mind-boggling display of complex fractals and abstract 3D imagery.
Dive straight into that sweet spot in the rave where the purest magic happens. Dance – connect – explore – manifest.
Presented with support from Vivid Sydney and City of Sydney.
