Event Details

Travel through Sydney past and present with this colourful, interactive sculptural playground in the heart of Circular Quay.

Standing 7-metres-tall, THERE, NOW, HERE is a whirling wonder of sound, light and shadow powered by wind and motors. Intriguing horns, mobile-like sculptures and more curiosities are in near constant motion, with each movement altering a layered sonic soundscape with recordings that span Sydney’s history.

Take it all in, with bulbous seats throughout offering meditative spaces of pause and reflection. Or eager to get involved?

Jump on one of two seesaw sets and explore how your movement translates into sound. Or try out a set of fader slides altering tempo, tone and distortion, stretching the sounds made by past movements into the present.

Think of it as an ongoing collaboration. Artists Wade and Leta invite Circular Quay’s winds, skies and Vivid Sydney’s most curious to seesaw, slide and play with the sounds of There, in order to create something only possible Now, Here.
