Event Details
Join the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) for a lively Sea Gathering, a free night of art, live music, informal talks and hands-on artmaking with Torres Strait artist Brian Robinson, whose work Mythical Mashup lights up the Museum's façade and seas during Vivid Sydney.
Named after the Torres Strait tradition of coming together to share stories, knowledge and resources, Sea Gathering is equal parts festival, exhibition and community celebration.
Transporting the Museum into a living canvas of light, play and sound, Sea Gathering also celebrates Robinson’s distinct, bold visual world with after dark access to his solo exhibition Ur Wayiii (Incoming Tide), plus bonus illustrations and interactive digital artworks from Robinson on display for one-night-only.
In a rare chance to explore the Museum after dark, embrace this rich celebration of Indigenous culture via artmaking sessions, powerhouse live music, extended hours for all First Nations exhibits, informal talks from Robinson and dining options celebrating native ingredients. Plus, be sure to soak in Vivid Sydney’s dazzling lights from the rooftop lookout and waterfront boardwalk.
Weaving together tradition and technology, Sea Gathering invites audiences to participate, create and connect.
This event is presented in partnership with Australian National Maritime Museum.
