Once, heading out to meet friends and dance was a normal fun part of our nightlife. Sydney was the epicentre of Australia’s rave, techno and house music party scene. The city’s world-famous dance music culture took a battering between lockouts and lockdowns, and almost disappeared entirely.

This immersive artwork is a homage to Sydney’s dance party scene and an ode to the joy and happiness it fosters in revellers. It is as much a shrine to the empty dance floors of our city that have been shut down over the past few years as a paean of hope for their future. Temple of Joy asks if – together – we can bring revive a new dance music culture and re-energize the night-time soul of Sydney. Moving and shape-making is wildly encouraged.

Presented as part of Vivid House. Join us for a sensory extravaganza as artists and musicians collaborate to create a series of 3D walk-through visual and sonic experiences. Immerse yourself in vistas that morph across 360-degree LED walls, blanketed by a mapped soundscape.
