Dutch artists Vendel & De Wolf have been collaborating together for over three decades to create innovative public art installations and experiences. Light is integral to their work, a vehicle to play with ideas of nature, chaos, science fiction and physics. Motivated by a desire to push the traditional boundaries of what art is, their work has been seen across the globe, from Cape Town to Berlin, Los Angeles to Shenzhen.

Event Details

For millennia, bonfires have been a meeting place: a way to connect, celebrate, survive and grieve. This design duo's electronic bonfire Fluxit lights up at Vivid Sydney after burning bright in South Africa, the Netherlands and China, arriving to warm up a Sydney winter.

Built from 400 silver bamboo sticks, Fluxit sits dormant during the daytime before relighting each night of the festival. LED tubes glow with orange embers at random as the fire runs through the bamboo, offering a chance to gather, reflect and watch the flames flicker
