Event Details

Eternally in motion, the waters of Walsh Bay are constantly pushed and pulled into different sized ripples and swell. This installation draws our attention to the subtle beauty of the ever-changing shapes and reflections of the water. Using motion sensors attached to twelve of the floating poles between piers 3 and 4, this work translates these movements into a dance of light on the water.

Facing each other from opposite sides of the piers, the two groups of six poles play a game of call-and-response with light, as waves move from one group to the other. Passing watercraft and the natural elements create an unpredictable show that beckons us to look closer at everyday nature and its overlooked movements.
