Bish Marzook is a comedian, writer and scientist. She has performed at the Sydney Fringe Festival, National Young Writers Festival, regularly appears on FBi’s Backchat and will literally talk to anyone about science.

For the Vivid edition of Two Up, Bish will be shaking up science in a big way. From microscopes and beakers to patterns and storytelling. She will show that science is not as resistant to irrational human behavior as you might expect.

Artist

Jason Phu is an emerging artist who currently splits his time between Sydney and Chongqing. Self-proclaimed Chinese/Vietnamese/Australian his work deals with mixed cultural identities and his experience of cultural dislocation. 

Represented by the Hughes Gallery, Jason was the winner of the Sulman Prize in 2015. Critical of the term Contemporary Asian Art, Jason will give his spin on the current art scene and how his work fits in.

Two Up is for inquisitive minds both young and old. It’s a bit silly and very educational. In a world of increasing specialisation, Two Up creates a space where you can get outside of your box.

For this special Vivid Ideas edition, Two Up Talks brings you two experts from completely unrelated topics within the creative community. This round will back up Bish Marzook on storytelling in science and emerging artist Jason Phu giving his take on contemporary Chinese art.

This evening of curiosity and conversation is fuelled by the guys at Cake Wines, known for supporting great culture stuff around Sydney.
