Stories for Impact: How To Produce Digital Stories Using Smartphones, Tablets and Cheap Technology

Digital Storytellers invites you to the Stories For Impact Workshop which will help you develop and produce captivating stories, through film and digital media, to connect, inspire and spark action amongst your audience. 

This workshop will teach you how to start creating great digital film content using smartphones, tablets and the resources at your disposal. 

We’ll show you how, with the right planning, strategy and training, it’s possible to produce powerful stories for social change using the resources at your disposal, without the need for expensive equipment. 

This workshop will be hands-on. You'll be shooting interviews and cutaways, recording sound, setting up lighting and more. We will take you through:

• Pre-production: planning, choosing locations, the art of interviewing
• Production: how to do lighting, sound, shooting and equipment (focusing on how to use smartphones, tablets & DSLRS to create powerful content
• Looking at the best of the best: We’ll look at inspirational case studies of others who have effectively used smartphones and tablets to create stunning stories
• All participants will walk away with a copy of the 'Story Canvas' and the 'Production Canvas' to help you plan future stories.

It is perfect for entrepreneurs, changemakers, nonprofit workers and those who work in communications of any form and see film as part of their future storytelling strategy. 

Who is running this workshop? 

Digital Storytellers is a digital production agency working specifically in the social and environment impact spheres. We've distilled our learnings from working out on the field into this 3 hour workshop, which has been run for over 1000 changemakers, entrepreneurs and storytellers in the past 12 months including the World Bank, Engineers Without Borders and Vivid Ideas 2015.

What do I need to bring? 

Please bring along any equipment that you have access to and are likely to be using to create content in the future, e.g. smartphone, iPhone, tablet, camera, microphones, audio recording devices.
