Vivid Ideas at Chatswood Chase: Louise Allerton, Tom Loveday and Naomi Oliver

Meet the artists who are using technology to create abstract artworks;

Learn how in this new evolution of the genre artists are moving beyond the canvas to explore how line, tone, colour, shape, and pattern can create new materialities, kinetic movement and expand the fourth dimension.

Discover more about the artists in this exhibition, by joining Willoughby City Council Curator Cassandra Hard Lawrie in conversation with some of the artists from the Future Abstract exhibition.

Gordon Louise Allerton
Louise Allerton has recently graduated from post-graduate studies at National Art School, where she developed anaglyphic imagery from computer-manipulated photomedia. Her work explores the nature of materiality, the shifting nature and meaning of objects and the transient nature of material relationships. Since graduating from NAS, She has since been selected to present work in numerous group exhibitions in galleries including Stanley Street Gallery, Factory 49, STACKS Projects and the New England Regional Art Museum.

Tom Loveday
Dr Tom Loveday is a contemporary artist in Sydney. He practices across painting, video art and installation. He also maintains an international and national research practice in art theory. Until 2017, he was a senior lecturer at Sydney College of the Art, University of Sydney. His artwork is held in major private and public collections nationally and internationally. For Future Abstract, Tom presents a video animation about subliminal space that incorporates geometry with saturated colour that echoes fluidity of his painting practice.

Naomi Oliver
Naomi Oliver has an art practice based around video, animation, sound, and performance art. Her work investigates defects in technology, psychology, the body, and the environment. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally. Her work in Future Abstract is a fantasy landscape produced by computer generated imagery and lenticular technology.
