Event Details

From the moment you experience the soulful croon of Te Karehana Gardiner-Toi – professionally known as TEEKS – you’ll be hooked on his vibrant, sensuous voice. The 26-year-old Māori singer-songwriter has already become a phenomenon in his homeland going to #1 with his debut album last year, and now he’s here with a four-piece band and string quartet to wow audiences at Vivid LIVE.

A native of Northland, Aotearoa, New Zealand, TEEKS grew up surrounded by music and performance. He was raised on everything from traditional waiata and kapa haka to Bob Marley, Elvis Presley and Sam Cooke, and was selected for the prestigious Pao Pao Pao development initiative for emerging and establishing Māori artists. His first release, the old-school soul influenced EP The Grapefruit Skies, was described as “one of the most original pieces of work a male New Zealand artist working within the genre of soul has produced,” generated the hit single ‘If Only’, and earned him a ‘Best Māori Artist’ NZ Music Award. It would establish a journey that saw TEEKS become one of Aotearoa’s most unforgettable voices in modern soul.

Giving audiences the chance to experience songs from his debut album up close and personally before release, TEEKS hit the road late in 2020 to perform six select shows. The tour sold out in an unprecedented 7 days. His debut album, Something to Feel, was then released in March 2021 to great acclaim, going straight to #1.

Don’t miss your chance to see this soul superstar-in-waiting.
