Event Details

One of the most exciting new talents to emerge on the American pop scene, singer, songwriter, cellist and producer Kelsey Lu is set to give Vivid LIVE audiences a taste of her transporting mix of avant garde chamber-pop and futurist beats, making her Sydney Opera House debut across three performances in the Utzon Room.

Emerging on the scene with her atmospheric, cello-and-vocals EP Church, the classically trained, underground hip-hop weaned North Carolina native drew rave reviews and attracted the attention of famous fans, leading to collaborations and live performances with André 3000, Florence + the Machine, Oneohtrix Point Never, Lady Gaga, Kelela, and appearances on both Blood Orange’s Freetown Sound and Solange’s A Seat at the Table.

Drawing on influences as varied as Rachmaninoff, Billie Holiday and Thelonious Monk, Lu’s dreamscape sound continues to evolve and surprise, with the ethereal, Skrillex-co-produced “Due West” and latest single, the evocative “Shades of Blue”.

General Public tickets on sale Friday 22 March 2019.
