MCA Light Nights Silent Disco

MCA Light Nights Silent Disco smashes into Vivid Sydney on the first two Fridays of the festival, 22 and 29 May — transforming the museum’s iconic Foundation Hall into an after-dark party playground of sound, light, and moving image.

Put on your headphones and choose your own audio adventure. Three live DJs will curate simultaneous soundtracks playing crowd-pleasers, guilty pleasures, club bangers and sing-along anthems from the 60s, 70s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s and whatever’s hot right now!

And inside, we’re extending the impact of celebrated Samoan/Australian artist Angela Tiatia’s work Vaiola which is illuminating the exterior of the MCA as part of Vivid Light. Three large screens will display selected video works from Tiatia's remarkable body of work — the hypnotic Lick (2015), the haunting The Pearl (2021), and the visceral The Dark Current (2023).

This is art that moves. Literally.

Choose from the Family session (5–7pm) or the Adults only session (7.30–10pm)

What's waiting for you inside:

• Angela Tiatia's world, expanded – Vaiola outside, selected video works including Lick, The Pearl and The Dark Current on big screens inside.
• Multiple live DJ channels through your headphones – curated soundtracks that shift, surprise, and hit different depending on which frequency you choose.
• MCA Café and Bar open and fully loaded – family-friendly menu, good drinks, great company.
• Foundation Hall transformed into a symphony of sound, light, magic and mystery. 

Dance together or to the beat of your own drum, in this multi-track, multi-media party extravaganza.

MCA Light Nights Silent Disco will have two sessions to cater for both families and adults:

Families from 5pm–7pm (family tickets starting from $65)

• Open to all dancers, especially families
• Bean bags and lounges for relaxed seating
• High-energy DJ-led experience + child-friendly music channel 
• Fully licenced MCA Bar
• Family-friendly food and drinks menu 

Adults from 7.30pm–10pm (tickets starting from $48 per adult)

• 18+ event
• High-energy DJ-led experience
• Multi-channel headphones allowing audience choice between music streams.
• Fully licenced MCA Bar
