Event Details

Think you have what it takes to create a brand new television series? Here’s your chance to prove it.

Your mission: devise an original TV drama in seven days.

Award winning and prolific writer, creator and producer Sam Meikle joins forces with screenwriter, lecturer and Associate Script Producer on Home and Away Holly Lyons to deliver the ultimate two-part screenwriting intensive that is a must for anyone with a passion for drama.

Step One: Attend Sam and Holly’s online workshop to sharpen your skills and identify the key ingredients required to create a television series. It’s a good idea to collaborate with a partner, so feel free to team up with a friend.

The first workshop focuses on a flawed protagonist, and how their circumstances and environment test their moral compass. In this session, you will be allocated a genre, a format, a theme, social conscience, audience demographic and a character limit. It's up to you what happens next. At the end of the session, you’ll be issued with the challenge to devise a television drama in seven days.

Step Two: After just seven days, you’ll attend the second session in person where you’ll pitch your new series concept to industry professionals for instant feedback.

This is an unmissable opportunity to analyse what makes a successful television series, challenge your creative skills, especially when working to a deadline, and practice your pitching skills.

Online Workshop | 29 May, 10am-12pm

In-Person Pitch Session | 5 June, 1.30pm-3.30pm
