Celebrating 15 years of Newtown’s DIY music institution, Vivid LIVE welcomes back Repressed Records with rare performances from Melbourne’s Total Control, industrial-pop innovators Severed Heads + Miss Destiny, Lucy Cliché, Kitchen’s Floor, Fake (Cassius Select/bv), Angie, Francis Plagne, Skyline and Horse Macgyver (Live Visuals) on the outdoor Harbour view stage of the Northern Broadwalk.
Playing only two shows in Australia upon the release of their second album Typical System, Total Control’s comeback proves how one record store is a vital creative outpost for an independent creative community that reaches back to Severed Heads ‘80s electronic innovations.
Teetering between pop, experimental and the defiantly ‘other’, Repressed Records returns to the Sydney Opera House for an urgent night exploring their storied musical history — a one-off affair exclusive to Vivid LIVE.

LUCY CLICHE (SYD)
Lucy has been a critical force in the Sydney DIY scene for over 10 years. Under her solo veil, Lucy Cliché is an ever evolving project exploring intersections between techno, industrial and electro. She recently released a new EP ‘Drain Down‘ on the vinyl imprint Noise In My Head Records.
FRANCIS PLAGNE (MELB)
Francis Plagne is a musician from Melbourne whose work combines song-writing with a variety of other approaches, including group improvisation, instrumental abstraction and domestic musique concrète. He has released recordings on Albert's Basement, Breakdance the Dawn, Lost and Lonesome, Kye Records and his own Mould Museum label, among others.
MISS DESTINY (MELB)
Miss Destiny are a band from Melbourne who play music that’s reminiscent of a mythical time when guitar music’s material of choice was transitioning from denim to leather. Post-hippie, pre-punk era rock ‘n’ roll meets the origins of New Wave of British Heavy Metal, with a glimmer of Sunset Strip feel-good excess.
ANGIE (SYD)
A Sydney based artist and musician, Angie's (Angela Garrick) guises include Circle Pit, Southern Comfort, Ruined Fortune and Straight Arrows and two solo LP’s already under her belt. Although fixated on exploring and expanding the rock and roll genre in the 21st century, Angie is back with the gorgeous piano-led Shyness.
KITCHEN’S FLOOR (BRIS)
Often credited as one of the main contributors to the resurgence of international interest in Australian DIY underground music over the last decade alongside Royal Headache, Blank Realm, Eddy Current Suppression Ring and more, this Brisbane based band led by Matt Kennedy specialise in the lovable art of downer rock based around Kennedy’s minimalist yet uniquely affecting song writing, which expresses honest emotion drawn from personal experience weaved through a raw pop sensibility.
SKYLINE (SYD)
A new collaboration between Sydney based David Akerman of heavy psych band Dead Farmers and Drum Drum and Del Lumanta of Video Ezy. The duo bond over a mutual love for film scores, Brian Eno, Cluster, Tangerine Dream, as well as more contemporary artists such as Blues Control and Polmo Polpo
FAKE (CASSIUS SELECT / BV) (SYD)
Taking his Matthew Herbert-approved club cuts as Cassius Select into the world of grinding hip-hop, Sydney producer Lavurn Lee twists his angelic voice into an autotuned cacophony for a rare appearance as Fake.
HORSE MACGYVER (LIVE VISUALS)
Performing under stage name Horse MacGyver, Timothy Dwyer's practice is as diverse and eclectic as the videos he produces. He has performed and exhibited internationally, and has created music videos for a wide range of artists including Lucy Cliché, Lost Animal, Gardland and Different Fountains. His works continue to evolve as an alchemic wash of digital distortions, “internet psychosis” and improvisations.
