Event Details

It’s been six long years since Vivid LIVE was treated to the lush and layered sounds of Tiny Ruins, the beloved indie folk outfit lead by gifted singer-songwriter Hollie Fullbrook. With a new album on the horizon, the New Zealand favourites are back: as a full live band, they’ll be performing never-before-heard new tracks – alongside classics from their critically acclaimed albums Some Were Meant for Sea, Brightly Painted One and Olympic Girls – for one night only in the Sydney Opera House Utzon Room.

Beginning in 2009 as a solo project for Hollie, Tiny Ruins evolved into a trio – with bassist Cass Basil and drummer Alexander Freer – earning rave reviews for their sophomore album Brightly Painted One, which built upon their warm, minimalist sound. Joined by electric guitarist and producer Tom Healy, 2019’s shimmering, evocative Olympic Girls followed on Courtney Barnett’s Milk! Records, with trips into lustrous dream pop, delicate acoustic folk and ebullient psychedelica. Tiny Ruins have toured with Sharon Van Etten, Aldous Harding & Calexico, and collaborated with filmmaker David Lynch on the single ‘Dream Wave’.
