One year after their sold-out debut performance, OM Collective brings this overwhelming multi-sensory journey to Vivid Sydney for round two.
Abandoning pretentiousness for the personal, multi-instrumentalist magician Tim Ferson spent two years crafting the OM Ceremony to be an unbelievably real and vulnerable experience. And being that Tim is the man behind these words, he's also deciding to abandon the third-person narrative pomp...
For 7 years, I juiced the love and learnings of my life into OM Collective's debut album (to be released for the 10-year anniversary of its conception on May 20, 2019). And then, twenty-something instruments, twelve feature vocalists and a few broken hearts later, I set out to bring that studio album experience to life.
I gathered personal videos and photos – of sacred Australian lands, travels to India, cherished selfies with lovers, even home-made sex-tapes – and weaved them into the kaleidoscopic OM Ceremony visuals.
Between songs, the night drops into a sort of story-based Dreaming that explores absurd vulnerabilities about drugs, religion, sex, abstinence, existential breakdowns… Meaning of life stuff...
And yet, as deep as it may be on the one hand, the OM Ceremony – with its rainbow lights, confetti balloons, and fairy dancers – is, on the other hand, undoubtedly an occasion to celebrate the joy of being human.
