Event Details

Be swept away by two true experts of the craft, veteran Mutti Mutti songwriter-activist Kutcha Edwards and multi-instrumentalist and African fusion artist Julian Belbachir.

Over the past three decades, Kutcha Edwards has left an indelible mark across our culture, with bands like Blackfire and the Black Arm Band, his solo career as a ‘Bidgee’ blues artist, and his ongoing activism around First Nations incarceration. Pulling from his experiences as a survivor of the Stolen Generations as well as his proud Mutti Mutti heritage, Kutcha’s music soars with meaning. In 2021, he released his celebrated fifth solo album Circling Time.

"…a magnificent, life-affirming triumph... Kutcha is quite possibly the finest contemporary singer of his generation."
- Rhythms Magazine

Julian Belbachir performs at Tumbalong Nights off the back of his debut album Babdoukkala, a work that took six years and multiple trips across the globe to create. Best known as the percussionist for supergroup OKA, Julian now takes centre stage as a producer-composer, motivated by a deep love of North and West African folkloric music. See him lead his band with the N’goni, a 14-string African harp, in a special Vivid Sydney performance.
