Event Details

Join us for a cruise through the beautiful, lit-up harbour of Sydney on the iconic Starship Sydney. This is a unique opportunity to experience the Vivid Light installations from the water while enjoying a three-course menu and learning about the latest innovations in media architecture.

Our hosts Gernot Tscherteu (Media Architecture Institute, Vienna, Austria) and Tac Lion (Media Facades Ltd, Shenzhen, China) will present outstanding projects at the intersection of architecture, lighting, media and design. In the lead-up to the event, projects will be selected and shortlisted through an international call for contributions. During the event, the top entries will be awarded in the following categories:

  • Animated Architecture: Projects demonstrating creative media facades solutions.
  • Money Architecture: Projects illuminating buildings that are closely related to business, banks, shopping centres, and entertainment.
  • Participatory Architecture and Urban Interaction: Interactive media projects that enable local city development from a bottom up perspective.
  • Spatial Media Art: Projects produced in an artistic context at the intersection of architecture and media art, mostly non-permanent movable installations with an innovative form of spatial interaction and/or perception of space.
  • Future Trends and Prototypes: Special solutions like three-dimensional displays, kinetic facades, OLEDs or even robotic elements that could shed light on what future media architectures might look like.

The cruise will leave at 6.30pm from Darling Harbour, King Street Wharf 4. (Further directions are available via the Starship website.)

The program for the evening includes:

  • 6.30pm Boarding the Starship
  • 6.30pm to 7.30pm Harbour cruise and networking
  • 7.30pm to 9pm Dinner on board of the Starship
  • 9pm to 10.30pm Award ceremony on board of the Starship
