THIRD AND FINAL SHOW ADDED BY POPULAR DEMAND - SATURDAY 11 JUNE 8PM

Australia’s beloved musical treasure Marcia Hines AM bares her soul in this unmissable World Premiere gospel experience. Rejoice as the Marcia's incomparable voice fills St Stephen’s Uniting Church alongside a 12-member choir and live band in an intimate and exalting live concert.

Sharing childhood memories and her early experiences with gospel music, Marcia brings us together to celebrate the joys and heartache that so define the faith and culture upheld in black American churches.

At a young age, Marcia discovered there was so much more to the music in these songs of praise. From the age of 10, she spent her Sundays accompanying her blind aunt – Florence James – to four churches in inner city Boston where Aunt Florence led the church choirs and roused congregations. Her aunt’s guidance in the art of singing propelled Marcia to Australia, where she took up the lead role in Hair, at only 16 years old. Four years later, she was the first black woman – anywhere – to play Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Over five decades, Marcia Hines has blazed a trail across music, theatre and television, inspiring people everywhere with her endless talent and encouragement. Dominating the mid-70s to early 80s charts with a record-breaking run of hits, she was a regular on Countdown, hosted her own TV show, and was crowned Queen of Pop three years running. Since then, Marcia has performed on stages of every size, been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, and her role as a judge on Australian Idol has won her another generation of young fans.

Now, hear her soul sing like never before in this exhilarating live gospel experience led by musical director Joe Accaria.
