Event Details

In June last year, lucky audiences at the Sydney Opera House Studio were treated to a stunning performance by two of Australian music’s greats: Ed Kuepper, master songsmith and founder of The Saints, and Jim White, the incredible drummer from the Dirty Three. Together these musical innovators tackled 45 years’ worth of Kuepper’s catalogue in their own inimitable style, and now they’re back together for an all-new performance at Vivid LIVE – playing one show only in the Drama Theatre.

Since exploding onto the scene in the ’70s as the co-founder of legendary proto-punks The Saints, the multi-talented songwriter Kuepper has enjoyed a long and varied musical career, entering the ARIA Hall of Fame twice, serving as the architect behind the uncompromising Laughing Clowns and The Aints! and releasing more than 15 solo albums. As one third of globally-acclaimed multi-instrumentalists – and Vivid LIVE mainstays – the Dirty Three, White has been at forefront of indie rock for more than three decades with his bands Springtime, Xylouris White, Venom P Stinger and The Double and collaborating with artists including Cat Power, Smog and Mary Margaret Ohara.

Together they are a force to be reckoned with, a combination that harnesses a richly innovative thread of Australian music history. Don’t miss it.
