Sani has made an indelible mark on the club, bar, private party and soul scene in Sydney, creating an irresistibly smooth impression wherever she performs.

As Ivy Pool’s resident Friday DJ for over five years...Sani specialises in soul music. This includes a life-long love of disco and all things super groovy. She has been taught by Sydney’s old school DJs, learning the craft the traditional way, surrounded by records, sound systems and a touch of la dolce vita.

She still collects and invests in self indulgent soul records to showcase at Sydney’s contemporary venues.

A fan of old soul artists such as Curtis, Marvin, Stevie, Smokey, Simone, Supremes, Aretha, Al Green, Dusty Springfield, James Brown, Chaka Khan, Candi Staton, Sly and The Family Stone, George Benson, early Jacksons, Bob Marley and other reggae favourites. Sani also includes classic party jams, such as Sugarhill Gang, Spank Rock, De La Soul, Jamiroquai, Tribe Called Quest, Lyrics Born, Gnarls Barkley, DJ Quick, Cody Chestnut, and Spearhead to name just a few.

She is currently inspired and influenced by DJs, producers and crews such as: Disco Tech, U-Tern, Deadly Sins, Drop Out Orchestra, Disco Deviance, Def Cut, Poolside, The Revenge, Hot Toddy, Tensnake, Pilooski, Bad Boe, Sticky Buds, Featurecast, Kraak & Smack, DJ Spinna, Todd Terje, Danny Krivit, Rayko, Dam Funk, and of course some of the original superstars: Norman Jay, Giles Peterson, Larry Levan, Kool Herc, Patrick Adams, and Stephen Ferris.

A small selection of some of the labels she collects include: Stax, Souljazz, Salsoul, Abc, Philadelphia, Prelude, Motown, West End, Ghettofunk, Good groove, Bombstrikes, Jalapeno, Ubiquity, Inertia, Curtom, Stones Throw., Goodvibe, Freestyle, and Interscope. This has developed into a love of all grooves and a successful career as one of Sydney’s most sought after DJs.

As a creative consultant, Sani can cater to all scenarios. If you are after sophisticated, stylish and sensual soul, chic lounge, or soulful funk with a twist of disco, to create an intimate atmosphere, she is the DJ to contact.

If it’s sweating it out on the dance floor - she is diverse in genres, so could also throw in a touch of afro, latin rhythms, rare grooves, reggae, world beats, jazz, modern and northern soul, classic funk, nu disco, cosmic boogie and old school hip hop - Incorporating contemporary reedits and remixes to take you on a journey, tapping into the heart and soul of a crowd.

Sani has spent her life immersed in the music industry. She has more than fifteen year's experience as a presenter on Radio Bondi 88 FM and has produced in-flight radio programs for Jetstar Airlines and promotional pod casts for iTunes. She has been production co-ordinator for Chris Murphy’s Petrol Records, creative co-ordinator for innovation specialists What If !, music director for Music Mann and course co-ordinator and host for the United DJ Mixing School. Such involvements have led to associations and creative collaborations with many of Sydney’s high profile musicians, producers and DJs, as well as international performers.

Sani often travels overseas to DJ and is currently involved in various projects in the industry through her creative consultancy and record label Soulqualia, as well as producing events and radio. She is the latest addition to ‘The Spectacular Disco Group’, soon to be featured on JJJ.

She is simply a Vinyl Junkie that loves to share and spread the Soul Jam.
