Splendens captures the moment when two Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens) are poised to battle to the death. The feisty males of the species are notorious for their territorial jousting and deadly intent.

The large light artwork depicts these tiny but intelligent fish when tension between two combatants is at its greatest – a second later and the battle for the small, dark spot they call home will begin, and at its end one will be lost.

Splendens seeks to explore an important but fleeting moment, the point of no return. From this moment there will be no second best, no making do; it will be all or nothing for the wonderful, vivid Betta Splendens.
