Plecstrum encourages participants to become sound and light performers by strumming or plucking a series of over-sized strings to generate a range of soundscapes and visual patterns.

Interaction with sensors in the strings triggers LED lights that illuminate the installation and its surroundings, while summoning forth a selection of audio samples that includes natural sounds, traditional instruments and futuristic reverberations.

In a playful and colourful way, Plecstrum returns the tactility and physicality of traditional musical instruments, sensations that are experienced less and less often with the instruments of modern digital technology.
