Vivid Ideas at Chatswood Chase: Natalie Pozdeev
Imagine what journalism could become.
How can we take the fake out of fake news and restore our faith in journalism? Without journalists and journalism, who will bear witness and hold people and institutions to account? Instead of switching off, can we embrace journalism as a positive force in our lives?
Join Natalie Pozdeev, Head Teacher of Media at TAFE NSW as she considers some of challenges we all face in the current news and media landscape. Can we agree on a set of facts? Can we be kinder to each other? How do we find ways to use social media to bring people together, rather than becoming more polarised? How do we discuss the difficult topics and challenges of our time without descending into the rabble the comments section is known for?
Drawing from her experience in vocational education and the community broadcasting sector, Natalie invites us to consider how we can become better citizens, active participants in news and journalism, better at discussing nuance, and, hopefully, to find what unites us. It may be that everyone has a role to play.
