Vanessa Wagner’s Cosy Nook 2017 follows in the footsteps of the sell out Tobin’s Cosy Nook during Vivid Sydney 2015 and the equally successful Vanessa Wagner’s Cosy Nook 2016 (despite a hurricane and warnings to stay home) both at The Captain Cook Hotel Paddington.

Vanessa Wagner’s Cosy Nook is an intimate afternoon/evening of sophisticated and eclectic music, dancing, art, visuals, networking, chatting and showing off. Vanessa Wagner will deftly orchestrate the aural/visual landscape as hostess whilst the incomparable Ben Drayton will complement with the main marathon set of sound goodies. With a variety of eye candy for the discerning ageless post – Queer scene and their friends Vanessa will create a rare opportunity to have fun without destroying your Sunday!  The demographic is ALL music lovers with an aversion to pretension and a proclivity for quality, style, fun, dress ups and pleasure! Tongues preferably in cheeks please.

Vanessa Wagner and promoter (the man behind the wig), Tobin Saunders have been at the vanguard of queer/mixed events, performances, dance, hosting, DJ’ing and firebrand activism for over 30 years. Tobin has been involved in Mardi Gras, fashion parades, film and dance variety at Belvoir St Theatre. He also produced, choreographed, hosted and performed at legendary “Jamie & Vanessa” events in Sydney.

Vanessa Wagner is as an actor/activist/educator appearing on TV as a social commentator and contemporary icon. Tobin is an out, gay, HIV positive  performer, writer, choreographer, dancer, actor and DJ.  Spanning mainstream culture and the highly visible LGBTI communities Tobin has stretched boundaries and built entertainment/social bridges. Combining elements of contemporary dance, expressive movement, popular culture, social comment, activism and satire, Tobin’s work could be described as Pastiche.  Avoiding tired labels Tobin and Vanessa trailblaze their own vibrant hybrid.
