Event Details

The grey of the Harbour Bridge Pylons explodes into a kaleidoscope of surrealistic, colourful life. Watch as Indigenous artist Tori-Jay’s exaggerated characters explore humanity’s deep connection to nature, through the prescient story of the Torres Strait 8 (TS8).

This group of climate change warriors from the Torres Strait Islands face the imminent threat of becoming some of the world’s first climate refugees due to rising sea levels. Each member of the TS8 is represented in Tori-Jay's surreal hand alongside their totem — Great Blue Heron, Dugong, Sea Birds, and Crocodile — as the sea starts to rise and swallow them.

Faces of Change is a reminder of our connection to nature and the urgent imperative to protect it. Told on the bridge that connects our city, both literally and symbolically, this is an inspiring call to protect our shared world.
