John Scott applies the latest advanced practices in the fields of business, leadership, organisational psychology, analytics and engineering to educational delivery. He has been involved in management and training for more than 30 years. He has held senior corporate and general management positions for multinationals across a range of industries, both in Australia and overseas.

Today as a global management consultant working across all continents, John captures the most recent thinking and practices in the short courses he teaches at UoN. John is multi-disciplinary, being degree qualified in business, psychology and statistics. He is also an accredited lean engineering practitioner. He has spent the last 15 years designing courses for a range of leading public universities in Australia, as well as one of the world’s largest private universities headquartered in USA. With this background, he brings to UoN the most up to date short courses for equipping and developing today’s modern professional in the world's leading practices.

This strategic leadership workshop will cover the following content:
 
  • Leadership style for achieving creative outcomes 
  • Developing your leadership identity 
  • Engaging team members in the pursuit of an agreed strategy by applying theories of motivation.
  • Fostering a positive attitude to risk taking so as to solve problems creatively as a team and thereby facilitate the strategic pathway for achieving the longer term team goal.
  • Types of creative strategic thinking including deductive, inductive, circular/convergent and abstract.
  • Enabling a positive risk culture that readily embraces creativity and change.
  • Mapping a plan of action for each attendee through creative demonstrations, sequential group exercises and application of concepts to scenarios provided by delegates.

This strategic leadership workshop is suitable for everyone aged 18 and above but will be of particular interest to managers, supervisors and team leaders, from diverse sectors, including public and private enterprise.
