Freshflix short film festival started in a backyard overlooking the ocean and has since toured through warehouses, cafes, breweries and courtyards showcasing the best in international and Aussie independent film.
For the first time ever, Freshflix is teaming up with Vivid Ideas to bring you two jam-packed days of workshops, filmmaker talks and industry speed-dating to set the emerging Aussie filmmaker up with everything they need to get into the industry. In typical Freshflix style, we're rounding up some incredible local musicians and artists to bring you two solid days and nights of live music and art, good food by the legends behind Shiso Fine food truck, great company and quality films.
SATURDAY JUNE 3RD 2017
SESSION 1: HINDSIGHT IS 20/20
Five Aussie filmmaker teams who have made big waves in the film industry deliver 20 slides, 20 seconds each, on how they did it. With a range of experience, budgets and film formats, this session is the no-BS guide for the emerging filmmaker to stock up on practical steps and advice for your first big film.

SESSION 2: THE WIZARDS OF AUS
Huddle around the campfire for stories from our film funding friends. Meet the real people working to get your films in their best shape to be financed and learn how to make them your allies. Ask your burning questions and leave with the answers you need to take the next step to financing your film. SESSION 3: INDUSTRY SPEED DATING PRESENTED BY WIFT
Swing on down to Freshflix for the best date night you’ll have this year. Sparks will fly, matches will be made, conversation will flow... and then be sharply cut off as our DJ changes the love ballad and you change seats to meet a brand spanking new date. Meet fellow filmmakers, industry professionals and financiers and leave with a head buzzing with new ideas, a pocket bursting with new contacts and a heart exploding with new love.

SESSION 4: ECSTATIC CINEMATIC
At the foundation of visual story telling is the glorious marriage between movement and sound. In celebration of such a marvelous alliance of the senses we've curated the most exciting melting pot of local electronic artists, visual artists and sensory experiences in-between. A night of live music & visual art curated by local electronic producer Ross Henry featuring our favourite experimental Aussie shorts.

SESSION 5: FRESHFLIX SHORT FILM FESTIVAL: WINTER 2017
With a usual dose of live music & art, good food and good films, the new season of Freshflix Film Festival is set to be our biggest and best yet. Committed to screening the best of Aussie and international talent (including 70% local Aussie films), Freshflix appeals to everyone from diehard film buffs to your best mate who’s never even heard the term short film.
(Please note there is adult content in some films, this night is suitable for mature audiences only)
