Danielle Post

Danielle Post

Chief of Staff, Nine Newsroom

Danielle Post is a Chief of Staff in the Nine Newsroom, Australia’s number one news service.  She is at the coal-face of the news you consume on Channel 9, from breakfast television to the flagship 6pm bulletin.  When news breaks – it’s game on as she sends the chopper to a factory explosion, deploys crews to the latest shooting or assigns journalists to investigate the top stories of the day.

Danielle has worked on major local and international stories such as the Lindt Café siege, the shooting of police accountant Curtis Cheng, missing flight MH370, countless storms that have lashed Sydney and too many Rugby League scandals to count.

But don’t be fooled – the bread and butter of news comes in many forms. From the hundreds of daily emails to the umpteen phone tip-offs and schmoozing with contacts, newsgathering really is an inexact science - a fine art of sifting and sorting.

As part of Edelman Storylab at Vivid Ideas 2016, Danielle will take you through the decision making process of the well-oiled machine that is Nine News – revealing how an idea evolves into a story, on an issue which then becomes part of your world when you let Nine’s storytellers into your living room.

Anthony Lister

Anthony Lister

Artist

Born in 1979 Anthony Lister is regularly described as “Australia’s best contemporary artist.”

In 2001, Lister completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Queensland College of the Arts. He helped pioneer the stencil and street art movement in Brisbane before moving to New York in 2003 to work with his mentor, Max Gimblett. In addition to a strong background in street art he employs a sophisticated, fine art, painterly style. High and low culture clash in the content of his paintings, drawings and installations – boorish superheroes, flirtatious ballet dancers, bad-tempered old masters and imperious vamps raucously co-exist at the party rapidly deteriorating inside Anthony Lister’s head.

With an international following and a general disregard for borders, this prolific street artist and painter has managed to marry the empathy and abjection of 20th century figuration with the irreverence of the street. The thrust of his work is equally informed by Bacon and Schiele, his childrens drawings and the Chapman brothers. His contradictory, often carnivalesque, layered action paintings have hung on the walls of solo exhibitions at galleries in Sydney, Miami, New York, London, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

The nomadic artist’s latest high-profile commissions include: The Standard in New York City’s Meat Packing district, public mural’s in conjunction with Soho’s L.I.S.A project and a newly released artist book, Anthony Lister - Adventure Painter, “documenting Lister’s physical and intellectual travels as he’s explored themes ranging from flawed superheroes to characters portraying classical mythology’s pop equivalents.” - Roger Gastman through Ginko Press.

Event Details

In a world where everyone’s a storyteller, great stories get drowned out – by gossip, hysteria, fluff and clickbait.

But when they get through, boy do they get through. Into our hearts. Into our minds. Into our souls.

At the Edelman Story Workshop, you’ll explore the brand story of local not-for-profit OzHarvest from the perspectives of six very different storytellers: journalist and comedian David Smiedt, Channel 9 chief of staff Danielle Post, artist Anthony Lister, filmmaker Katharine Rogers and more to be announced.

Edelman Story Workshop is an immersive workshop where employees and clients come together and collaborate with storytellers to tell better brand stories – stories that cut through the noise, that use but go beyond brand guidelines and key messages, that capture our collective imaginations in honest, enduring ways.

More storytellers are being announced in the lead up to the event, including an artist, a prominent news-journalist, a chef and a visual effects (vfx) artist. Each of these people will share their unique way of telling the OzHarvest story.

Forget the same old story. It’s time for the Edelman Story Workshop at Vivid Ideas 2016.

This event is presented by Edelman Australia.
