Paul Wiegard

Paul Wiegard is co-founder of Madman Entertainment a leading independent film and television distribution and rights management company, with offices in Australia and New Zealand. Home to more than 100 employees across all divisions, including Madman Productions, theatrical sales, marketing, publicity, digital aggregation and agency distribution.
 
Madman is renowned for its commitment to quality Australian and foreign film, factual content, as well as highly collectable categories such as Japanese anime, genre film, animation and cult.

Peter Drinkwater

Peter is CEO of brand consultancy House of Brand, and film/TV audience research agency SARA, with a range of clients including Qantas, Google, Medibank and Vodafone.

He also consults with arts organisations on brand marketing and has recently completed a semiotic analysis of communication codes to help arts/creative brands engage audiences in a new and novel way.

Chantal Abouchar

Chantal has worked for three decades in the media and entertainment industry, locally and internationally.  

In 2015, Chantal founded The Studio, a not-for-profit organisation focused on community building and co-working spaces. The underlying purpose of The Studio is to strengthen and develop the Australian media, entertainment, games and creative industries by fostering and supporting startup activity. 

Media-tech start-ups will help future-proof these industries and re-imagine the way they can develop and grow. The Studio is also focused on facilitating engagement and opportunities across other sectors.

Chloe Rickard

Chloe Rickard is a filmmaker rapidly emerging as one of Australia's most dynamic and innovative comedy oproducers. A Partner and Head of Production at Jungle, she has served as lead producer on Here Come the Habibs,  No Activity  (Stan's first original commission),  Soul MatesThe MoodysA Moody ChristmasElegant Gentlemen's Guide to Knife Fighting, and  over 200 TVCs. 

She is currently in  pre-production of Soul Mates series 2 for the ABC and NBCU, and with backing from Screen Australia, in development of the feature film The Murderous Urges of Ordinary Women.  

Chloe is a recipient of Screen Australia's Enterprise Growth program with the Van Vuuren Bros and one of the founders of the ScreenThink, a group of young thought leaders whose research into piracy recently won the support of the Content Coalition formed by News Corp, Village Roadshow, Foxtel and other leaders of the screen business.

Four speakers provide a complimentary and varied perspective on how technology is impacting and shaping the Australian media, entertainment and creative industries. Combined, they represent three different generations and decades of experience as practitioners, business founders, entrepreneurs and creatives.

This event explores the topics including:

  • Tech startups and the global opportunities they bring
  • How different technology platforms can be used to test characters and stories
  • Design thinking and lean canvas and bringing these into creative practice and content production process
  • The need to conceive content in terms of a total brand across multiple platforms
  • The power of brand and how its used by the different Australian Arts organizations
  • Madman's SVOD anime channel

Audience engagement is an integral part of this event, with Q&A opportunities throughout and Q&A and panel discussion at the end.
